Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
CHEST: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, making sure to keep the tape under the arms and around your shoulder blades.
WAIST: Measure around the smallest part of your waist (natural waistline).
HIPS: Stand with your heels together and measure around the fullest part.
INSIDE LEG: Measure from the top of your inner leg, along the inside seam to the bottom of your leg.
After six months of walking the dog through winter the was no longer waterproof, which was the reason the costs was purchased.
Bought just over three months ago got caught out in heavy rain whilst wearing this, walking the dogs, got back home and took jacket off, the shoulders of my t shirt completely soaked, and my arms too
Truly waterproof and, when wearing the zipped in fleece, very warm. On about my fourth of these coats. I am obviously a fan and rate them highly.
Straight forward top bergey does that trick..
This coat is a must for walkers, windproof and the GORE-TEX fabric repels every drop of rain.

I have two cornice jackets. In one I have a fleece for the cold days, the other I use as a raincoat without the fleece. I have just decided that the winter one(with fleece) needed to be replaced. I've only had it for 15 years or so and worn it for work every day in winter. Getting a bit worn around the cuffs so I bought a new one - same jacket of course. Its advertised as a mens jacket but I'm a woman and its just sooo comfortable. It cost me around £150 15 years ago. At a cost of £10 per year I don't think it owes me anything. I'm 61 in two weeks time and I thnk the new one might see me out!!
The usual Berghaus quality. My last three gore-tex jackets have been Berghaus . They suit my requirements good hard wearing material and does what it says on the label
I've had my current jacket for nearly 10 years and have used it almost every day for dog walking in all weathers as well as hillwalking in Ireland, Scotland, Lake District and Yorkshire.
The jacket has performed well in all conditions and the entire jacket is still intact, no leaks and still very comfortable. Top marks all round.
This jacket was great for 3 months and then it became completely unsuitable for purpose. My brother and I had one each and both of them were useless after 3 months!
Should be entitled to money back.
I have owned my cornice IA for 4 years and I am still very impressed, walking up mountains or going shopping, this jacket is at home everywhere and always looks good. Durability is excellent as nothing has broken or torn, with only minimum wear on the cuffs and the waterproof performance is still excellent .Highly recommended, if and when it wears out I shall buy another.
It is difficult to give five stars for a garment unless you have owned it for a couple of years as only time can tell if it is going to be worth the expense however initially I am very impressed. I originally bought this jacket as my Paramo gear is much too warm for summer dog walking however I am more than happy to wear it for a day in the hills. It is waterproof, windproof and breaths well provided you do not have too many layers for the breathability to cope with.
I never have any luck with zips however the main zip up the front has a quality feel and I have had no problems with it jamming.
It is a good fit and I zipped in an old Berghaus fleece I had laying around on a colder morning and the difference in warmth was incredible - two layers felt like four!
I have just two small gripes:
The zips in the pockets are not going to last five minutes. They have tiny teeth and are difficult to close even with warm hands - for a jacket of this price decent zips would have cost just pennies more and made a great jacket perfect.
I would have preferred a draw string for the hood rather than the small elastic cord which is not strong enough to stop the hood flapping around in high winds.
In conclusion; On the lower end of the price scale I would recommend it however at the £180 end of the scale I would say there are better jackets out there.
Neither Berghaus nor Gore can find a leak in the jacket! Gore have washed and DWR'd the jacket and returned it to me. It feels entirely different from the feel when I DWR'd it. Berghaus suggest that the wetness in the sleeve is due to internal condensation and the ponding around the wrists is due to rain water wicking upwards because none of the wrist seams are tape sealed. What a lot of old cobblers. I am now looking for a new "suoolier" of my wet weather gear
In less than 2 years from initial purchase this gearment has gone from a high end waterproof to al low end damp proof. Out in any decent rainstorm' within 30 mins my elbows start to get wet ( a grey coloured fleece confirms this) and the incoming eater drains down to my wrists from where life soon becomes uncomfortable. It was washed ans a new DWR washed in and this made no difference, The store told me that it indicated a seam failure and to send it back to Berghaus. Berghaus claimed to be unable to find any leak and have sent it back to Gore for further testing! I really thrive on returning perfectly good waterproofs under non existent complaint because I enjoy paying Royal Mail £8.50 a pop for recorded delivery. I await and will post the results from Gore. PS their Explorer Ridge boots fell apart in the same time scale although I admit to wearing the boots more often than I wore the lacket!
My last Berghaus cornice lasted 10 years. If this coats lasts as long it'll be fantastic. Great quality coat worth every penny!!!!!
is very good nice jacket for this model berghaus cornice 111jacket is better the old version the first one has got crease jacket in the waist area also berghaus is very good brand make and I highly recommend it
I seem to buy a new Cornice every 3 years or so for general day to day wear. The Jacket is well made though not as bomb proof as my 15 year old Mera Peak which is still going strong and is my preferred choice for fell walking trips to the Lake District. The Cornice has a relaxed cut and fits my large XXL frame with plenty of room for a heavy weight fleece underneath. My only gripes and the reason for the loss of a star are a very poor hood which flops about without a stiffened peak and after 2-3 years of putting the jacket in and taking it out of a rucksack most days the material at the back of the jacket over the top of the draw cord starts to wear out hence the need for a replacement jacket. This has occurred with every Cornice I have owned. So to summarise, a decent jacket more suited to the high street than the high fells.
Conditions partly sunny, 3-5degC. Light breeze. Moderate hill walking.Worn with on one occasion just a base layer and twice with base layer and fleece.
I bought this jacket for its advertised breath-ability and in that respect on the 3 occasions that I have worn it I have been distinctly unimpressed. It is also very noisy. I am constantly aware of the noise of the material rubbing against it self.
On the plus side it has a good sized map pocket.
I wish that my 20year old Bradsport Goretex hadn't worn out. It out performs this by 100 miles.
Comfortable, showerproof and warm.

It's completely windproof, even in the bitterest of weather and completely waterproof too. Very solidly build and with 3 really useful pockets. I love it!
